Public Safety
Haren has worked with numerous municipalities to complete many successful projects. The Haren team’s experience with municipal projects ranges from the new construction of fire stations to public parks to art installations to new buildings for logistics and facilities. Haren has also completed updates and renovations for power systems, HVAC and other utilities inside of municipal properties.
When it comes to building a new public safety facility, it is hard to beat Haren’s current experience in the segment. Your Haren team is experienced in construction management. We view design reviews, budgeting, and public engagement as essential services when we take on a public project. Haren has helped municipalities and the architect to modify project designs to keep the needs & wants of the project while maintaining the project budget. During construction, your municipal project is supervised by Haren’s experienced operations team. All projects are staffed by on-site superintendents, who are also supported by a project management team. The project manager and superintendent worked together closely to maintain the construction schedule, ensure quality, and manage project costs. Haren’s experienced construction teams have the know-how to build your next project.
On-Call Services
Your Haren team includes crews of skilled tradespeople that can tackle small jobs with the professionalism and quality you would expect from a large general contractor. Your Haren team works with local municipalities and public utilities on an “on-call” basis to complete a range of projects like small office remodels, painting, HVAC modifications, cabinets, and door installation. We work either independently or as a supplement to your full-time staff to complete the small jobs that need to become a priority.
Continuity of Operations
Performing renovations and building modifications in operational facilities and ensuring that essential services are provided to the community are key aspects of municipal construction. Haren’s ability to work around people and their offices make the Haren team a leader in this segment.
Case Study: Fire Station Renovations
We understand that operations at fire stations cannot be put on hold while the construction is being completed. From design reviews to completing the punch list your Haren team keeps operational continuity front of mind. Your Haren team has experience working in occupied spaces. Whether that is from working at the Brookdale Vernon Hills location during the COVID-19 pandemic to renovating the KCK Fire Station HQ to add a female locker room, Haren has worked efficiently in occupied spaces with little impact on the day-to-day operations of those businesses. During the KCK Fire HQ, renovation firefighters would respond to 8-10 calls a day.
Your Haren team has experience renovating operational fire stations. In the last three years, our project teams have renovated 11 operational fire stations. Working in operational fire stations require constant awareness of tools, materials, and close coordination with fire station personnel to ensure that tools and materials are placed in areas that do not encumber the first responders as they respond to calls. Our superintendents and subcontractor foremen carefully plan daily job site activity to ensure no surprise materials or equipment deliveries. The Haren superintendents and foremen understand that seconds count, and in turn, take care to keep work areas clean and organized. Before taking breaks or leaving the work area for a moment, our crews make sure that nothing will be in the way should a call come through.
