John Knox Village – VAL (2020)

Haren partnered with John Knox Village to construct Village Assisted Living (VAL 400). This ground-up project involved demolishing an outdated facility to build a new single-story assisted living center with 25 units and a large common area.

The new bathrooms feature roll-in showers with linear drains for smooth transitions, enhancing accessibility. Additional grab bars were installed beyond ADA requirements, and shower valves are positioned for easy use from the fold-down seat. Corridors include custom lean rails for stability, and lever-style door hardware accommodates various grip positions.

Despite winter weather delays in early 2019, Haren advanced the schedule by pre-framing walls offsite, transporting them for immediate installation when conditions allowed.
